Yunona Gogia has been working as a chef and Culinary Arts specialist as well as Hospitality & Business Management teacher for more than 10 years. She has an MA with major in Journalism and Japanese Linguistics from the Moscow State University, and she also acquired an AHLA Hospitality Management Diploma in Vancouver, BC.

She lived and worked for long periods of time in Tokyo, Japan, and Bloomington, US and traveled to Turkey, Spain and Hungary. This experience helped her acquire global perspective and also become seriously interested in ethnic food and different culinary traditions and artistic food presentation.

yumico on TV city cooksYunona has profound practical knowledge of Hospitality industry, Food & Beverages services in particular, because it has been 7 years since she took the responsibility of working as an Operations Manager for Yumico Catering Company. She has vast experience of developing and implementing operations and marketing plans and strategies, and planning and executing large scale events. She participated in TV and radio programs in Japan and the US and also appeared as a guest in the City Cooks CTV program.

Her knowledge of fine cooking and Culinary Arts is based on childhood experience of growing up in Georgia, where good food is fact of life, festive occasion and communication tool. She considers herself a grandma’s apprentice – taking early lessons from her grandma, who was famous cook and culinary inspiration. She credits her ethnic food knowledge and passion to hearty and artistic presentation to years of traveling and living in foreign countries.

Today she works as a catering company chef and manager and also teaches Food and Beverage Management, Food Safety, and Business Management at a college. She likes to combine practical experience with education because it helps to manage catering operation, ensure food safety, proper handling of ingredients and, on the other hand, it works well to justify the value of the learning transfer – she can teach from experience.

We also do weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, and the like.

In the summer of 2010 YUMICO Catering was to Georgia. We attended a number of restaurants, and private events. We tried authentic Georgian food, and made observations that we could implement into our catering here in Vancouver, Canada. Please feel free to see our pictures.

CATERING POLICY, YUMICO Caterer in Vancouver w/ Italian, Ukrainian, Russian, and Georgian food and Cuisine:

We accept Visa, Master Card, Pay Pal, cash, and cheques -- personal, and corporate. We require 50 % deposit prior to the catering event. The other half has to be paid on the day of event, usually upon delivery. Our delivery rates are $ 10-20.
