We believe that healthy, well-balanced, ethnically diverse (Italian, Georgian, Russian & Ukranian cuisine), beautifully presented food is an essential part of our everyday life, and we are willing to share our multicultural cooking experience with you. Welcome! Message from Yunona Hi, dear visitor. Let me be brief in order to explain my cooking philosophy. The journey into the world of creative cooking started when I was only ten years old, and the reason why, was my grandmother. She was Polish but came to live in my homeland - Georgia on the Black Sea - when she was a baby. An interesting thing about Georgia is that there is an uncertainty about whether to consider the country European or Oriental. The influences from both parts of the world are equally important, and overall, it's a very beautiful sub-tropical land where people grow vines, oranges, tangerines, tea, and tobacco. Statistically, Georgians live a very long life due to well-balanced food and relaxed life style. Even now despite many economic and political problems there are relatively many people reaching the age of one hundred. Anyway, there I was, ten years old, watching my grandma creating one delight after another. People used to call her a kitchen magician and she really was - entertaining and feeding us and serving banquets and special events on occasion. Then, there was my mom doing the same magic, and there was I growing bigger and bigger from under the table and taking their side. Thus I applied a systematic approach to the art of cooking and later took lessons in food preparation and presentation. I also was lucky to have chances to travel. Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Turkey, Spain, Japan, The United States. In some of these countries I stayed for as long as seven years like in Russia, or about three years in Japan and four years in the States. I've learnt a great deal about ethnic culinary diversity and fusion; my kitchen cupboard has a compartment where I keep at least twenty different spices at hand. I cook, cater, create and learn and I love what I am doing. Please take a look at some samples and make a decision. My husband Mitch is a great cook, too. He loves making dishes of Russian cuisine like meat dumplings, pierogies w/ cheddar & potatoes, cottage cheese, and suerkraut, borsch, and a great variety of other soups including Mediterranean. He can either cook under my supervision or be just creative on his own. Yet his major is the famous souvlaki/shashlyk (see photos, which he marinades according to his unique recipes (oops, mine as well!) and then performs the art of cookery at grill putting the pieces on skewers. Mitch can also make sushi and, tempura, and many other meals & dishes from Japanese cuisine. He has a chef certificate from Japan. Menus from YUMICO Catering in Burnaby and Vancouver can be customised according to your needs. All Menus ListAlso see our:SpecialsGST is included, yet we'd appreciate gratuities (around 10 %). |
